How to Reinstall or Upgrade Your Operating System
One of the best features of CoLi Link’s infrastructure is the ability to wipe your server and start fresh with a new Operating System (OS) in just a few clicks. Whether you want to switch from Ubuntu to CentOS or upgrade to a newer version of Windows Server, you can do it directly from your dashboard.
Important Note Before You Begin
Reinstalling your OS will permanently delete all data currently on your VPS/VDS. Please ensure you have a backup of your important files before proceeding.
Step-by-Step Reinstallation Guide:
- Login to your Client Area: Go to coli.com.gh and log in.
- Select Your Service: Navigate to "Services" and click on the specific VPS or VDS you wish to modify.
- Find the "Reinstall" Button: In the server management menu, look for the "Reinstall" or "OS Reload" icon.
- Choose Your New OS: A list of available operating systems will appear. We offer the latest versions of:
- Linux: Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, AlmaLinux, and Rocky Linux.
- Windows: Windows Server (Standard & Datacenter editions).
- Confirm & Start: After selecting your OS, click "Confirm." The system will begin formatting your drive and installing the new software.
- Retrieve New Credentials: The process usually takes 2–5 minutes. Once finished, your new root/administrator password will be displayed or sent to your registered email.
Can I Upgrade Without Reinstalling?
If you want to upgrade your OS version (e.g., Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04) without losing data, you must do this manually via the command line (Terminal).
- Warning: Manual upgrades carry a risk of software conflicts. We always recommend a "Clean Install" for the best performance in our Accra hub.
